LEARN TO FLY OPTIONS
The Hawkes Bay & East Coast Aero Club encourages everyone with an interest in aviation to get involved. Whatever your ambition, whether you want a microlight pilot certificate, private pilot licence or to extend your skills with further ratings we can help make your dream a reality.
Private Pilot Licence
A private pilot licence allows you to fly any aeroplane. After completing your licence you can gain ratings on any of the club aircraft, achieve a night rating or move on to more advanced ratings.
Microlight Pilot Licence
A micro-light licence allows you to fly as pilot in command of a single or two seat aircraft up to a maximum weight of 600kg. Micro-light aircraft are not approved to fly over built up areas or to fly at night.
As Hawkes Bay and East Coast Aero Club is a member of Flying NZ we participate in the Regional, National and International competitions that are run through Flying NZ. It is a great opportunity to fine tune your skills and have great fun.

Trial flights are a great way to introduce a person to the sheer joy of flying. These are hands on, interactive training flights where you get to fly the aircraft under the expert supervision of one of our experienced instructors.
